Street style Italy

It is a fact. Men in nice clothes turn me on. I've been looking at the Italians. Damn they have taste. Just look at these men caught on the streets of Italy.

Ladies, how do we tell the males of Australia that this is what ruggedly handsome should look like?

For a few reasons, the men of Australia love the rugged look. Firstly, alot of Auzzie men like to still appear just that, as MEN. Secondly, it's easy and they're lazy. Thirdly, somebody has told them that we like this manly look. Admittedly, we do. I do. HOWEVER. Being men, when this revealing conversation took place the only thing that reached their brain was 'So women love it when I do nothing'. What resulted? The I can throw anything on and be sexy look. Wrong.

He may be one of Australia's best male musicians, but the dreadlocked 35 year old once upon a time looked like he slept on the streets rather than walk them. Being a humble and unpretentious man, and lover of everything environmentally friendly, perhaps fashion wasn't at the forefront of his mind.....but being at the forefront of music I think he could have put in a little more care.

For one. If you are going to do the dreaded dreads, at least do them differently. Everyone has long dreads. Chop them Johnny! At least to shoulder length. Also, TRIM THE BEARD so it's neat and get rid of the mo. I have yet to see one person that looks good with a moustache. Stamp your style on it!

Having finished that rant and demeaning one of our best musicians as an example of the lack of style and laziness in dreads, Butler has actually chopped off his dreads for a while now.

Conclusion? Auzzie men are getting the rugged, they just can't team it with handsome....or are too lazy to try. It's hard for men. I know. We want them to look manly and gorgeous, we want them to try without looking like they tried. Have a quick cry boys and get over it. Check the reality.....that's what they ask from us!

Men like their women beautiful and maintained, but they also like to think we wake up like this. Even the most naturally blessed women maintain their appearances with waxes... face wash routines... moisturizers... hair cuts and colour...health watching...and fitness.

Even the most naturally blessed women need to maintain their style by putting a little time and thought into shopping and making the right purchases.

We need to educate and coach our Auzzie men into developing personal style. We're not asking all men to look like they've stepped off the catwalks of milan, just to take a little more care in showing who they are. What does it take? A little bit of maintenance every couple of days....and a little bit more time and consideration when shopping. How do we do that?

Thinking of you always,

Manda xx
